Children make us grateful in an endless variety of ways. They bring surprising responses to each new turn of life and fill us with wonderment. But when they challenge us with their emerging independence, their painful uncertainties, and their disappointments if things don't go their way, what happens to gratefulness? This message board allows you to trade with others your joys and your challenges in caring for children.

I hope and pray that SO will see that I only want the best for her, that my words are coming from a place of wisdom and love. Let her see past her defensiveness and accept my guidance.

My grand daughter lives with me - mom and a boyfriend put her in the hospital seizing, double ear infections, closed head injuries, burned feet, dehydrated, and ice cold. She nearly died. I can keep her until my son can take her but please pray for her recovery and for that of all neglected abused little ones.

ASKING FOR PRAYERS FOR MY GRANDSON DANNY HE IS 6 YRS OLD AND LIVES WITH CEREBRAL PALSY WHICH IS DUE TO BIRTH TRAUMA. HIS PARENTS ARE CURRENTLY IN A LAWSUIT WITH THE DOCTOR WHO DELIVERED HIM. PLS PRAY FOR HEALING IN DANNYS BODY AS HE CANNOT WALK/TALK/EAT/SIT-UP & HAS VERY LITTLE USE OF HIS HANDS. AND PLS PRAY THAT DANNY WINS THIS COURT CASE AS HE WILL NEED A LIFETIME OF CARE THERAPY & EQUIPMENT. I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER WHEN DONE BY MANY PEOPLE. I'm asking for prayers for my Granddaughter,Sarah.She is nearly 5 and has lived with me ALL her life until Feb.when her Mom(my daughter)came with a policeman and took her away in tears & begging to stay.I now have temp custody,pending court.Sarah & I pray everyday for God to please don't let anyone take her away from me again.I am the only home she has ever known.I am her safe place.Please pray for us to stay together,please.I begg of you.Thank you.

For j usa on your 26 Feb post - I hope things are better. If this is the man you love and want to spend your life with, those kids are part of the package and most likely his priority in life. You don't need to be their mom, just their friend and dad's wife. Seriously, try a yoga class - the deep breathing will calm your throat. And be nice to the ex- - her problems are hers and you have enough on your plate. Good luck! You can do this!

Once, a very little girl saw my sadness and she held my hand. She suggested I keep a diary, making sure I always found something beautiful to write that had happened that day. When I couldn't find anything to write she told me 'but there is me. I love you.' Her wisdom still astounds me today. What an amazing soul.

I'm preparing to marry a man with joint custody of three boys. I have no children. We have been dating 2 1/2 years. The ex-wife has been hostile to me lately and lives only two blocks away. The children are a mess emotionally at least on occasion. I'm physically having symptoms of throat tension, which has been challenging becuase I am normally a very healthy person. Does anyone have any words of wisdom, strength, or encouragement for me?

I want to ask for strength, calm and courage for my dear friend Penny, her daughter had a brain tumor and it was removed about 5 years ago. It has reappeared with two other brain tumors. She has been through 2 major surgeries in the last two months and now when she is strong enough she will need to go for another round of treatment for the last tumor that can't be reached surgically. Gina the daughter is accepting and very positive with a great attitude. With tubes everywhere she still gives the thumbs up sign. This family has been through so much, please just give them reassurance that it will be okay, whatever the future holds.
