Angels and Animals
Angel means "messenger," and these messengers come in many different guises. Here you can tell others what four-footed, two-footed, no-footed, or winged being brought you a message for which you are grateful.

I really don't know what I will do without him and his beautiful kisses on the lips in the middle of the night. Rest in peace, sweet little boy. We lost our beloved 10 year old Alpha Cat, Andre’ on Saturday afternoon. His battle with cardiomyopathy came to an end and he left this world the way he came in, on his own terms. For that I am eternally grateful. I am so grateful that he is not suffering anymore and that I did not have to make that choice for him. That was a huge gift to us and so much like Andre’ to take care of things himself. We had a candle vigil for him. I placed him in a beautiful floral hat box with a receiving blanket that was my late little sister’s when she was a baby. Our other 8 cats came by to pay their respects. It was quite amazing. Some hugged him, some rubbed his ear, Frodo did all of that and gave his tail a few good licks as well. He always likes to shine everyone up. Andre’ has lots of loved ones; he made such an impact on others and I want all of his friends, human & animal, to know that he is no longer suffering. He was loved by so many of us and that helped make him the Brave Heart

It is indeed refreshing to find a site which allows comments in support of animals who are our special companions. They are loyal and unassuming and serve us to the end. They are used and abused by us to an alarming extent. God gave us the responsibility of looking after all creatures and our world but we have sadly abused this gift. There are happily some enlightened souls among the human race who realise this and are working hard to prevent suffering, both animal and human. God tells us in the Qur'an that animals are like human communities and will be returned to their Lord and yet if you travel to the Muslims lands animals are suffering greatly. Prophet Muhammad taught that if you harm an animal then you will be sent to the fire. Buddhists teach the doctrine of not causing suffering to any living being yet they skin animals alive for their fur and food. If we really cared about the starving and the damage to our planet then we should be at least vegetarian if not vegan.

It is so refresing that you provide a forum for compassion and consideration for animals. Animals are our partners in life and provide us with compassion, empathy and loyalty. We are the reciients of the God given viceregency or khalifa of being responsible for other creatures and the environment. We have sadly abused this privelege. It is mentioned in the Qur'an that animals are communities just like us and they will be returned to their Lord. The Prophet Muhammad taught kindness to animals yet this has been ignored by most of the Muslim community among other spiritual groups. Buddhists teach that causing of harm to any living creature is "haram" yet "Buddhists" in various Buddhist heartlands skin dogs and cats alive in order to sell their fur abroad. China has one of the largest fur exporting markts. We must treat animals kindly, we must imagine the life that many of the animals who serve us with great pain. They too were created by a compassionate God.

I used to play tricks on my dear Pip to get him to do what I wanted, but he is so good and so absolutely loving, he taught me to be totally straight with him. He rewards me with total trust and boundless joy and the kind of communication that KNOWS without being told. We love each other and he really knows who loves me and loves them back.

I have been praying for healing to my family in the UK. I asked the angels to step in and "do their thing" this morning as I need help to stay grounded in a greatful place. My cat was sitting right next to me on my mediation mat whilst I was doing this. I went out for the day. Upon my return this evening, my cat came running up to me at the door (his usual greeting), I noticed something on his cheek. I touched it and a small feather was in my hand. He is an indoor cat. Ok could be coincidence but I thought it was pretty cool!

Our canine companion of 8 years took ill recently, and efforts to save her did not take. The dog embodied joy, and brought it to all who happened into her presence. Children found her irresistable; and she was especially open and attentive to them. We attracted clusters of young folk on walks and outings; she would kiss and enthrall each of them with her gentle goodness. She taught us much. In our final moments together, we encountered yet one more child. This small boy connected only to the joy our lovely companion offered. We will never forget his smile, the boy's rapture amidst this dog's undefeatable spirit. We watched, humbled as she gave her parting gift, keeping to ourselves that she was dying even as it was bestowed. Shortly thereafter we released her home to the source who had so blessed us with her presence in our lives. Our darling lives now in our hearts, and plays joyfully on in happy dreams of the countless children she engaged.

This week I am looking in on a friend’s 17 year old cat whose name is Mamakitty. This lovely diva greets me at every visit with leg rubbings, purring and love in her eyes. After her meals, we sit down together and enjoy some quiet Reiki time together. She loves to be groomed and will give me a healthy slap when she’s had enough. She is healthy and happy and we both look forward to the annual family vacation so I can come back to spend some quality time with her. We call it our spa week. Friends come in all sizes, shapes, colors and species. Mamakitty is one of my dearest old friends. Long may she reign.

My cat Rosie is a very talented purr-er. When I first saw her, I saw a very cute kitten with a loud purr. I soon decided I wanted to take her home with me but wasn't sure she wanted that, so I asked her, "Do you want to come home with me?" She purred VERY loudly! I asked her twice, and both times she purred VERY loudly! So, I decided that whether or not she understood words, she understood my question, and I brought her home with me. She has been stubborn, loving, sweet, hungry for breakfast EARLY, hungry for pats and petting and head scratches almost always, and she teaches me the importance of sincerity and of good sleep! She is my sweet, warm, furry beautiful, talkative companion. I am grateful for her every day.

Although I believe my Mother with Alzheimer's is an Angel in Training .....I'm quite sure my dog Belle is a full fledged Angel......I've seen the way she takes care of Mom.

I too have always had a fondness for rabbits and am greatful for the relationships that I have now and have had with them in the past as roommates as well as with the wild rabbits I encounter. Birds and rabbits are the two animals that best help me relate to Nature and the Mother Earth.
