Happy 9th anniversary of A Network for Grateful Living (ANG*L)! When we began on Thanksgiving at the turn of the millennium – inspired to see whether community and sacred space could be built on the World Wide Web – we had no idea that 30,000 of you from 240 countries would be reading this message now. Nor could we have guessed that every year millions of visitors come explore how grateful living restores well being and gives us the resources to live in harmony with each other and our beloved planet. Thank you for all you have given to make possible this truly beneficial accomplishment! All along the way, you have supported us with your prayers, your ideas, and necessary funding, so this entire project is truly yours, too. And you have immersed yourself in ANG*L services: You have lit candles, sent ecards, attended retreats, watched inspiring videos, sent ecards, walked the labyrinth, meditated on Word for the Day, and let the Angels of the Hours accompany you on your daily journey. And much more! Today you can support all these services – keeping them available to you and allowing others to discover and use them – by giving to our Thanksgiving Campaign as generously as you can: http://www.gratefulness.org/a/support/donate.htm Even more exciting, your contributions help us move ahead towards ANG*L outliving its founders. We will have more to tell you about this effort in the New Year, but for now it is enough to know that we have an outstanding and dedicated staff stretched to the max and brimming over with new ideas (exploring how gratefulness might influence corporate culture; making more services available in Europe; providing full-length downloads of Br. David’s lectures…) At this juncture, we have the right alchemy of people to carry on Br. David’s legacy, but we are scrambling to get the strong financial support we need behind that effort. You can be key movers in this process, offering those who come after you – way on down the line to your great-great-grandchildren – the resources to live as if this were not “just another day” – a source of discouragement or complaint – but rather a surpassingly magnificent, fresh opportunity. When you contribute during our Thanksgiving campaign, we will post your dedication of thanks to someone or something you love on a special page set aside for this purpose: http://www.gratefulness.org/a/2009/dedications.htm Take a look at these warm expressions of gratitude and place your own along with them! If you donate in honor of someone who is living, you can give them this link so that they can see your tribute to them in the context of a great outpouring of thankfulness. If you write in memory of someone, you can have the comfort of knowing that they are remembered also by all who visit this page. You have remained so generous to ANG*L through all life’s ups and downs, and we know we can count on you now, too. If everyone on this list gave $5, we would have nearly our yearly budget; $10 and we would have enough to hire another much-needed staff person; $100 and we would be a third of the way towards the full endowment our board has in mind to sustain ANG*L. Please give today in honor of your loved ones and the blessing of all life’s free gifts: http://www.gratefulness.org/a/support/donate.htm With grateful love, Patricia C.
