December Newsletter — Dec 22, 2008

At this turning point in the seasons, recognized by people throughout the world as a unique opportunity for renewal, may we turn once again towards grateful awareness that we have received more than we can ever give back. Our circumstances are not always in our hands, but we can always influence the spirit we bring to the events of our lives and, in so doing, cultivate inner qualities which build a world closer to our ideal of peace and goodwill. For instance,

* We can remember that the unseen world asks only that we gaze in its direction to see that we are not alone, as this Round Dance of the Angels shows hour-by-hour:

* We can lift our setbacks into the light of compassion and give to others what we value for ourselves, as these role models do in December’s Gratefulnews:

* We can send greetings of joy and harmony to those whom we love:

* And we can step away from time to time to refresh our spirits in the company of other seekers, on retreat with Br. David, Joan Halifax Roshi, and Tessa Bielecki in California this February:

or on the Ocean of Gratitude cruise with Michael Bernard Beckwith, Rickie Byars Beckwith, and other creative guides this March:

We want to make sure you know that both of the above events are still open for registration. Please join us if you can, bearing in mind that what you invest in personal renewal returns to you as the strength to live creatively and courageously.

Knowing what it takes to find a balance between conserving and giving, our webteam feels touched and overwhelmed by the year’s end gifts many of you have sent –

– as well as the supportive notes we receive from people who cannot donate at this time but hold our work in high regard. Our Network for Grateful Living continues month to month due almost entirely to the kindness of friends who know that gratitude has the power to make our lives and this world an oasis in which dignity, reverence, and caring thrive. Thank you from all our hearts for making our free services possible.

Please visit our homepage “What’s New” box –

– to view five additional offerings this month not mentioned above. Our website is a vast mural painted for years now and across continents. It draws hearts together in the recognition that our entire world shares a common language, and that language is gratefulness.

Holiday blessings to you and yours,
Patricia and Margaret on behalf of our ANG*L Webteam
