Birthday of James Thurber (1894-1961)
December 8

American cartoonist, humorist, and author whose articles and cartoons appeared in "The New Yorker" magazine from 1927 to 1961. Collections of his works include The Owl in the Attic (1931), My Life and Hard Times (1933), and Thurber Country (1953).

Here’s a taste of Thurber's aphorisms:
"You can fool too many of the people too much of the time."
"It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers."
"Let us not look back to the past with anger, nor towards the future with fear, but look around with awareness."
