All Souls Day
November 2

Archaeologists find that even our earliest ancestors proved by burial rites sorrow and affection for their dear ones who died. On this day, we remember all who passed on before us and express lasting love by lighting a candle or by some other ritual.

In Poland, Zaduszki (All Souls Day), is the second most important holiday of the year. Each year, up to 98 percent of the country's population visit graveyards and leave flowers and light candles, called znicze in memory of their loved ones. The candles are of all sizes, and can burn up to a week, casting a glow on cemeteries all over the country. In solidarity, you can light a Polish candle, too.
