Brother David

Retreat Centers

All around the world you can find nodes of gratefulness: places where calm, trust, wonder, kindness, and common sense prevail. Here are links to three such centers which Brother David helped create:

  • Felsentor Foundation
Located in Lucerne, Switzerland, Felsentor provides a place of retreat and contemplation based on preservation of nature, animal rights, and holistic thought.
  • Puregg Haus der Stille
An Austrian retreat center -- founded by Brother David Steindl-Rast, OSB, and Zen teacher Vanja Palmers -- where East and West meet in the holy silence which unites all religions.
  • Sky Farm Hermitage of Peace
A hermitage and chapel in the hills of Sonoma, California offering hospitality, solitude, and silence to spiritual seekers. Sky Farm's land also serves as a wildlife corridor for deer, birds, fish, and many other animals.

For additional retreat centers, please see the links under our Guidance topic.
