In 2004, donor support enabled us to:

• bring solace and hope to as many as eleven thousand Gratefulness.org visitors each day.

• add Chinese, Danish, Portuguese, and Swedish candle translations, spreading light to 241 countries.

• provide a way for visitors to view messages on all lit candles from their or any other country -- even Antarctica, where one message read "Einfach so, weil das Leben schön ist":  "Simply so, because life is beautiful."

• begin technical preparations and outreach for Light Up the World, a global effort to make visible the thousands of groups worldwide which take a stand for a sane and fair political, environmental, and economic future of our planet.

• translate the Angel of the Hour into German and compose an index to all German texts on our site, as a first step towards further expansion into other languages.

• archive for posterity 500+ hours of Brother David Steindl-Rast's talks, which were previously stored on deteriorating (often decades old) audio tapes.

• post 35 of Brother David's archived articles, with more in the works.

• create a page focusing on the nodes of gratefulness, retreat centers Brother David helped create (with links to several additional retreat resources).

• offer dozens of new texts: poems, gift person essays, gratefulnews articles, and meditative readings.

• nearly triple our ecard collection; people send an average of 600 cards each week.

• answer an average of ten visitor emails a day.

• compile two new topics – Grief/Joy and Caring for Earth -- completing our full cycle of twelve.

• finish a layout transformation that makes both navigation and sharing of the site substantially easier.
