Second Global Gathering
of Guardians for Gratefulness

September 12-14, 2008
Mattli Retreat Center - Morschach, Switzerland

View of Lake Lucerne from Mattli Retreat CenterOn September 12-14, 2008, we will offer our second global gathering at "Mattli," a retreat center above Lake Lucerne, Switzerland.  No matter where you live, if you feel connected to our work and would like to learn more about our ever-expanding circle of friends, we invite you to join us.  Peter and Verena Kessler, Swiss members of our Guardians community, have poured their loving, energetic spirits into working with our staff to coordinate this weekend of spiritual renewal. It will be presented in English by two inspiring teachers: Brother David Steindl-Rast – a Benedictine monk and internationally published author renowned for his pioneering efforts in interfaith dialogue – and Chungliang Al Huang, a master of Tai Ji and Chinese calligraphy and author of a number of books about the art of integrating body, mind, and soul. Both build bridges not only between the East and the West, but generally between different cultures, religions, and philosophies.

Participants at Mattli 2005This retreat provides an opportunity for a strong, dedicated community – Guardians for Gratefulness – to gather and ensure the viability of A Network for Grateful Living (ANG*L) and Brother David Steindl-Rast’s legacy.   Guardians provide talents, skills, connections, expertise, and dependable financial support to ANG*L, in a labor of love that restores hope to people in more than 240 countries.  You are welcome at this special gathering whether or not you can become a Guardian.

Stay an extra day if you can!  Br. David and Chungliang will also offer an event (in German) at St. Peter's Church in Zuerich on Monday evening, September 15th.  The event starts at 7:30pm; tickets will be available beforehand at the door. You can view the flyer, available for you to print and distribute, here (pdf).

For more information about either event or to register for the weekend retreat, please contact us. With room, board, and teachings included in the fee of 450 Swiss francs (approximately $400 US dollars or $275 Euros), the Mattli retreat filled quickly, but we currently have a few spaces available due to cancellations.
